8-Month Onesie in a Dry, Warm January

January 24, 2014 By radmegan 2 Comments

Dear, 8-month old Baby Lars,

Where has the time gone? You sit up unassisted. You laugh at my silly faces. You can stand up and walk when we hold your hands. You eat avocados and mushy apples like they are going out of style. You babble “mamamama” a LOT and roar like a lion/dragon/dinosaur to make us laugh. You card, you. Happy eight-month birthday.

I wanted to give you a little snowman this month since it’s winter and I thought I would be taking you to see the snow, but we live in California where winter means fire season and drought. There’s no real snow for us to visit. On the day I took your 8-month photo it was 82 degrees outside.

Also, I nearly craft failed your onesie this month Lars, but we don’t need to dwell on that… I love you so much that you make my heart feel like it’s going to explode.

Thank you for choosing me.
I love you with all my heart and soul.

Love,
mamamama

So, here’s the scoop on this month’s onesie. Apparently, with all of my other craft assignments due this month, I couldn’t be bothered to read the directions on the iron-on decal I bought for my boy’s onesie.
Oh, there are directions, you say? Directions beyond “IRON THIS ON.”
Here’s a pro tip from me to you. Be sure you understand which side of your number should be applied to your garment when you go to iron it on. Maybe this would have been obvious with a different number, but my “8” ended up ironed on…to my iron instead of my onesie.
I had to smash the “3” into a makeshift “8” to save this project. The results were not BEAUTIFUL, but it was passable.
I did some embroidery reinforcement just in case my fake 8 peeled off at some point.
An embroidered, iron-on snowman might just be the best chance for snow we can hope for this year.
Either way, he doesn’t seem too bummed about it.

adorable…you say he’s walking with help? sounds way to young…have you asked his doctor about this? It may be old fashioned, but I’ve always heard this could lead to bowed legs

Awww, I just love all of the specific updates about what Lars Lars is up to Adorable! You are hilarious how you document it all. Um, that is an ADORABLE onesie. Clearly, it was meant to turn out this way! Love you!
