Baby boy, sunshine of my life, you are killing it with this whole “adorable toddler thing.” Your word count is up to “Mama, Dada, Na-Ma (grandma), moon, moo (sounds similar to moon but happens only when a cow is visible) no, nose (again, a similar sounds but is accompanied by a baby-sized index finger in your nostril), more (often accompanied by the sign for milk, or when eating anything) “humm” for hummus, hat, sun and hi. We’ve also heard several “uh-oh”s. You also sign, “milk, bath, bye bye, stinky and creepy!” Lars, I love that you stop to smell every flower you see- whether growing in our garden, printed on fabric, or in a book. You could turn the wheels of all of your trucks and cars for HOURS. You love reading your books about trucks (in addition to all of our Little Critter books, the Duck and Goose series, and the Gossie and Friends series) and seem to be completely overjoyed when you get the rare opportunity to steer whatever circle you get your hands on (our wooden trivet and grandma’s hoop earrings are a couple of your favorite “steering wheels”.) You can stand up unassisted, and squat back down. You still enjoy walking with assistance, but are eager to walk on your own, and have taken up to 10 steps by yourself! I am in no rush for you to run around this house, but I think that time is rapidly approaching. This month, you finally cut your third and fourth tooth. Those top-chompers are pretty darn cute. Your gummy smile just gets cuter and cuter with each little white cap. When you give me hugs and kisses, I melt into a liquid rainbow. I love you with all my heart and soul. I put this blog post off for over a month because I didn’t want the monthly onesie-love letters to you to ever come to an end. But I know there will be a day in the not too distant future when you “Oh MAAAAAM” me and beg me to take these photos & words off the internet because they are “SO EMBARRASSING.” But I want you, the world, and every search engine that will ever exist, to know my undying love for you. Happy one year on this earth.
Let’s talk about your onesie so that we can move onto how we celebrated your first year of life!
For this final installment of the month-markers, I used a sample of the Lumi Inkodye I received from my Craftcation speaker swag bag. I wanted to transfer the photo I took of you at your 12-month doctor visit (that happened to fall on your birthday). After a little trial and error, I managed to get a good print onto the onesie, but I was pretty messy in my work. I cut the printed image out, and adhered it to a striped onesie that you were rapidly outgrowing.
I had some fun fabric paint and pens that I picked up at CHA this year, and used them to make the border of the print look a little less jagged and rough, and a little more party-ready!
When the onesie was done, your dad and I hopped in the car with you and took a day trip to the beach for some photos and fun in the sun. Ok, not ALL of the time in the sun was fun, but you were a sport as always.
We love your goofy expressions, loving heart and sunny personality so much, Lars!
We will cherish you always! Whether there are onesies and love letters to accompany each month, or not!
Love,
Mama and Daddy
