Around this time last year, I was in Washington DC. It was my first time in DC and although I was there for work, I had gotten the “ok” from my boss to head out the weekend before the conference for sightseeing. I hadn’t put much thought into how the “sights” would stay with me. I don’t think I’ve ever visited a place where I felt so connected to history, my fellow man, and felt so deeply patriotic. Even though my “weekend off” caused some ruffled feathers back in the office, I’m so glad I took the time to visit the war memorials, see Veterans and their families huddled in close conversation, and take a moment of quiet reflection.
Thank you to all of the men and women who are currently serving, and have served our country. You are brave, strong, and appreciated. Happy Veterans Day.
