Wrapped-Wire Christmas Tree Earrings

December 15, 2010 By radmegan Leave a Comment

Earring-Making Tools
Making silver wire earrings might just be the quickest craft I’ve put together all month. All you need is some sterling silver wire, round-tipped pliers, earring hooks, metal snips (or scissors you don’t care about) and the biggest knitting needle you have. Oh, and pierced ears. And in about ten minutes, and you can have long dangly earrings that will dazzle and amaze during a holiday party, or when given as a gift. And did I mention in only ten minutes?

Using a pair of round-tipped jewelry pliers, wrap the wire in a small loop a couple of times. Next, use your pliers to bend the wire straight down off of the loop. Using your fingers, tightly wrap the wire around the tip of the knitting needle. Continue wrapping until you have a coiled Christmas tree shape to your desired length. Snip the end of the wire off the spool, and use the pliers to bend the bottom loop of the tree over itself to secure the coil, and prevent any rough ends. Attach to the earring hooks by gently opening the loop at the base of the hook, slipping the loop of your coiled tree into it, and closing it with the pliers.
Silver Tree EarringsI love these earring! I like mine long because I have a little bit of a giraffe neck, but they look just as cute as short trees too.

To make your own wire earrings, you can pick up the very same supplies here.

Happy Christmas crafting!
